About the Port

Strategic Location

Located just 10 nautical miles from the international east-west shipping route, Vizhinjam minimizes deviation time for large merchant vessels travelling between Europe, the Middle East, and East Asia.

Natural Depth

With a natural draft of 24 metres, Vizhinjam can comfortably berth Ultra Large Container Vessels (ULCVs) without the ongoing costs and operational delays associated with continual dredging.

Global Ranking

Vizhinjam ranks 83rd globally in container handling (Feb 2026).
